Lake Pichola, Classic Journey

"Without knowing it, we utilize hundreds of products each day that owe their origin to wild animals and plants. Indeed our welfare is intimately tied up with the welfare of wildlife.Wellmayconservationists proclaim that by saving the lives of wild species, we may be saving our own."- Norman Myers, A Wealth of Wild Species
----------------------------------------
"I am pessimistic about the human race Because it is too ingenious for its own good. Our approach to nature is to beat it into submission. We would stand a better chance of survival if We accommodated ourselves to this planet And viewed it appreciatively instead of Skeptically and dictatorially".
- E.B. White

Hawa Mahal:
TheHawa Mahal, Jaipur Tourism 'Palace of Winds', built in 1799 A.D, by Maharaja Pratap Singh, is the most recognizable monument of Jaipur. The five storied stunning semi-octagonal monument having 152 windows with overhanging latticed balconies is a fine piece of Rajput architecture. Originally designed for the royal ladies to catch the cool breeze on a hot day, and enjoy the processions and other activities, on the street below.

Jantar Mantar:
Built in 18th century by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh.A stone observatory . largest of Jai Singh's five remarkable observatories . Its complex instruments , whose settings and shapes are scientifically designed , represent the high points of medieval Indian astronomy .the huge masonry instruments were used to study the movement of constellations and stars in the sky. Enormous sun-dials still provide accurate time, which are subject to daily corrections. The most striking of these are the Ram Yantras used for gauging altitudes.

Amber Fort:
The Kachchawahas ruled from Amber , 11 km from Jaipur .A beautiful complex of palaces, halls, pavilions, gardens and temples built by Raja Man Singh, Mirza Raja Jai Singh and Sawai Jai Singh over a period of about two centuries still stand in magnificent state. The palace complex emerges dramatically from the placid waters of the Maotha Lake and is approachable only through a steep path. Tourists often ride on the elephant back to the Singh pol and the Jaleb Chowk. Two flights of stairs rise from on end of the chowk, one leading to the Shila Mata Temple and other to the palace complex. The image of the patron of goddess, worshipped by thousands of devotees, was brought from Jessore in East Bengal (now in Bangladesh) by Raja Man Singh, to be installed here.
City Palace, Jaipur Travel Guide
City Palace:
As may be expected , in the heart of the old city is the former royal residence built in a blend of the Rajasthani and Mughal styles. The carved arches are supported by grey-white marble columns ornate with floral motifs in gold and colored stones. Two carved elephants in marble guard the entrance. The retainers whose families have served generations of rulers serve as guides. The palace houses a museum with a superb collection of Rajasthani costumes and armory of Mughals and Rajputs including swords of different shapes and sizes with chased handles, some of them inlaid with enamel and embellished with jewels and encased in magnificent scabbards. The palace also has an art gallery with an excellent collection of miniature paintings, carpets, royal paraphernalia and rare astronomical works in Arabic, Persian, Latin and Sanskrit, acquired by Sawai Jai Singh - II to study astronomy in detail.

Ram Bagh Palace:
The sprawling residence of the governess of maharaja Ram Singh , it became his favorite retreat and later , a hunting lodge. Designed by British architects as a formal palace, Rambagh came to embody princely chic when it was occupied by Maharaja Mansingh and Maharani Gayatri Devi. This luxurious palace was a garden gifted to one of the queens, before being converted into a royal guest house, the only palace in the world to have its own POLO FIELD.

Govind Devji Temple:
The most popular spire less temple of Jaipur dedicated to Lord Krishna. It is located in the central pavilion of the Jai Niwas Garden to the north of Chandra Mahal. The image of the patron deity-Govind Devji, originally installed in a temple of Vrindavan, was reinstalled here by Sawai Jai Singh II as his family deity.
