About Sharad Kumar Vats (founder)

sharad kumar vats

Sharad, a native of New Delhi, nurtured a childhood dream of representing India in cricket. He was a passionate outdoor enthusiast who demonstrated excellence in various sports. While most of his peers prepared for engineering and medical entrance exams, Sharad chose a different path, opting to pursue a career in Hotel Management. Following the successful completion of his course, he secured a position with the Taj Group of Hotels, Asia’s largest hotel conglomerate and a TATA Group enterprise. Within his first year at the Taj Group, Sharad’s exceptional performance earned him the title of Employee of the Year.

It was during this time that he crossed paths with his mentor, Mr. Divya Bhanu Sinh Chavda, a distinguished Wildlife Expert and acclaimed author of numerous books on Indian Wildlife. Sharad’s interactions with Mr. Chavda ignited his passion for exploring various national parks in India.

Between 1990 and 1999, Sharad embarked on extensive travels across India, venturing into the jungles of Bandhavgarh, Corbett, Dudhwa, Kanha, Bharatpur, and Sariska. His first encounter with a tiger occurred in 1990 when he was just 22 years old, an experience that profoundly immersed him in the world of forests. While continuing to thrive in the corporate world, Sharad aligned himself with a purpose: to live amidst India’s wilderness and contribute to tiger conservation.

An avid reader, some of Sharad’s all-time favorite books include “Autobiography of a Yogi,” “Bhagwat Gita,” “Jobs,” and “Built to Last.” He draws inspiration from notable personalities such as Paramahansa Yogananda, Mahatma Gandhi, Steve Jobs, Elon Musk, and Jack Welch, who have left an indelible mark on his life.

Combining his love for wildlife and his passion for imparting practical management skills, Sharad authored a book titled “The Tiger CEO.” In his words, “The tiger is a mysterious creature that captivates us all. While there are numerous coffee-table books on tigers authored by various experts, I felt a strong urge to document my personal observations and interpretations of key tiger traits. These traits not only define the tiger as an apex predator but also as an exemplary leader.”

In these times when strong leadership is essential to navigate the challenges we face, Sharad found himself repeatedly turning to the tiger for inspiration. He identified several attributes of the tiger in historical leaders worldwide, spanning different domains, from Chattrapati Shivaji to Elon Musk. Sharad has shared these insights in his book, hoping to inspire readers to draw invaluable lessons from the king of the jungle.
